Couples Counselling in Crewe
At Positive Minds Therapy, I also offer Couples Counselling to support partners who want to strengthen their relationship, improve communication, and resolve ongoing difficulties. Sessions are available in person at Survive Counselling in Crewe.
Couples therapy provides a safe, supportive space where both partners can openly express their thoughts and emotions without judgment. It’s an opportunity to explore patterns within the relationship, understand each other’s needs more deeply, and learn practical strategies to reconnect and move forward together.
Whether you’re facing frequent conflict, trust issues, life transitions, or simply want to build a stronger emotional connection, couples counselling can help. Using evidence-based approaches such as Emotionally Focused Therapy, Solution-Focused techniques, and insights from CBT and the Gottman Method, I work collaboratively with both partners to:
Improve communication and emotional understanding
Manage conflict in a healthy and respectful way
Rebuild trust and intimacy
Identify unhelpful patterns and develop new ways of relating
Strengthen friendship and shared meaning within your relationship
Couples counselling is suitable for married and unmarried couples, same-sex partnerships, or any two people seeking to enhance their relationship.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) is a practical, evidence-based approach that focuses on how thoughts, emotions, and behaviours are interconnected. It helps you identify unhelpful thinking patterns and develop more balanced ways of responding to life’s challenges.
CBT is structured, goal-focused, and collaborative. Sessions are tailored to your individual needs and may include practical strategies, coping tools, and between-session tasks to support real change in everyday life.
I also integrate elements of Metacognitive Therapy (MCT), which helps reduce overthinking, worry, and rumination by changing how you relate to your thoughts, rather than the thoughts themselves.
Where appropriate, therapy may include the use of brief questionnaires to track progress and ensure a focused, effective approach.
CBT is widely used for anxiety, depression, trauma, and stress-related difficulties, and aims to equip you with skills you can continue to use long after therapy has ended.
Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT)
SFBT is a short-term, goal-focused therapeutic approach that emphasizes clients’ strengths and solutions rather than problems. It helps individuals identify and build on their existing resources to create positive change. Rather than exploring past difficulties, SFBT focuses on envisioning a preferred future and taking small, achievable steps toward it. It is particularly effective for individuals seeking practical, solution-driven support in a limited number of sessions.
NLP helps clients reframe negative thought patterns and behaviors, empowering them to achieve their goals. Timeline Therapy delves into past experiences to release emotional blockages, enabling healing and growth.
Sessions are £75 for 1 hour appointments.

Heather Crawford – Associate Integrative Therapist
Hi, I’m Heather Crawford, and I work as an Associate Integrative Therapist with Positive Minds Therapy. I am currently completing a Diploma in Clinical and Pastoral Counselling and bring over twenty years of experience working within the wellbeing and social care sector. This has included supporting individuals in a range of settings and working alongside external services and organisations, which has given me a strong understanding of the challenges people face in everyday life.
I also hold qualifications in areas such as hypnotherapy approaches, hypnobirthing, mindfulness, breathwork, and trauma-informed work, which all inform my integrative approach to therapy.
My approach is person-centred and integrative, meaning I aim to provide a safe, supportive, and non-judgemental space where you can talk openly and explore what may be going on in your life. Alongside talking therapy, I may incorporate approaches that support nervous system regulation, stress management, emotional wellbeing, and mind–body health where appropriate.
I have a particular interest in stress, anxiety, burnout, sleep difficulties, life changes, and emotional wellbeing, particularly where these are linked to ongoing stress and nervous system dysregulation. My aim is to help clients understand what may be happening, feel heard and supported, and develop ways to cope, feel calmer, and move forward.
Alongside my private practice, I also work within a counselling placement in a charity setting supporting adults affected by trauma and abuse. This work has influenced my trauma-informed and nervous system aware approach to therapy and emotional wellbeing.
As part of Positive Minds Therapy, I work under regular clinical supervision, attend ongoing professional development and mentor meetings, and hold full professional indemnity insurance, ensuring that all work is carried out to high ethical and professional standards.
